Adam “MCA” Yauch in 2000; Photograph via Corbis Commemorating MCA with Beastie Boys’ Best Food Rhymes Mike Singer  |  BonAppetit A few days ago the world lost a musical icon named Adam Yauch who, under the moniker MCA, co-founded the seminal group The Beastie Boys. We’ve been listening to “Paul’s Boutique” on repeat in the office and thinking about how chef-like it is to chop up samples and influences and mix them together into something fresh and awesome. If there was a musical version of Chopped, MCA would have been a top contender. From the band’s first hip hop recording about Carvel’s renowned mascot Cookie Puss to its latest album, “Hot Sauce Committee Part Two”, there was a food/music relationship at its core.
